You said this is a family
I've learned you're not what you pretend to be
And I don't need your company

Broken Promises
I believed it all
I bought it hook line and sinker
Broken Promises
I stumble and I fall
I gave it everything
I gave it all

You said I never shared with you
But I did
You only heard what you wanted to
The information went right over you

Broken Promises
I believed it all
I bought it hook line and sinker
Broken Promises
I stumble and I fall
I gave it everything
I gave it all

I fought the rumors
I played the game
Thought you were changing but you're just more of the same
I got my stones shirt on and my ragged faded jeans
Letting go of you is not as hard as it seems

Broken Promises
I believed it all
I bought it hook line and sinker
Broken Promises
I stumble and I fall
I gave it everything
I gave it all

Broken Promises
I believed it all
I bought it hook line and sinker
Broken Promises
I stumble and I fall
I gave it everything
I gave it all

Short Song Description:
To my former... employer... lover... friend... partner... associate..... you fill in the blanks!
Story Behind the Song:
I was laid off after 22 years at the Community Development Commission of the County of Los Angeles. In late 2006, I had questions about my future there and was assured of my high value to the organization. In September 2008, I was laid off... I felt like I was kicked in the teeth. Management pretended that I was leaving voluntarily to pursue a music career... and, although I can honestly say that I'm grateful to be making music now - not making any money, but making music - I'm still ticked and myself for believing what my employer told me. So, this is the tune that I came up with.
